Question:
Why so many disrespect Bruce Lee?

This guy was a legend, without him martial arts would have taken longer to become popular outside Asia and he was the father of modern MMA because of his philosophy which has a lot of truth and insight to it. A lot of people, myself included, were not even born when he was around and yet here are a lot of people disrespecting him saying he can't beat this guy and he can't beat that guy, that he was a fake because he done acting.

His movies helped promote martial arts and if I remember the likes of Rampage Jackson, BJ Penn and Randy Couture have been in movies. People always put him up against Chuck Norris and modern MMA fighter saying he'll lose. Did Chuck himself not admit he would lose? And how do we know Bruce cannot beat an MMA fighter? He's dead so it is stupid to just guess based on the fighters of today who think being bigger and taking it to the ground defines fighting (not everyone of course).

This man set the bar for martial artists everywhere, had real fights and not a competition with referees and rules. His physiques was such that bodybuilders see him as an example for physical perfection and because he is small did not mean he wasn't as strong. He could easily kick an MMA fighter off his feet given his strength, speed and power.

Not knowing the man well enough to judge means that if you don't like him, for whatever reason, then do not disrespect him. The man deserves to rest in peace for a great life cut short.

What makes us any better? He never claimed to be more than what he really was and I'm only qouting what my older relatives have told me from the time he was alive.

Because Bruce Lee was an actor. People forget that Bruce was an actor as a child, before he started Wing Tsun. It's true!! BUT Bruce Lee was a true MARTIAL ARTIST as well, even more then an actor. Bruce set the bar high, thought outside the box, and was far ahead of his time. Same as people who were great in other things, like Michael Jackson for instance. MJ was one if not the greatest entertainer of our or even all time. But because of his personal issues, people disrespected him as an entertainer. Because Bruce was an actor, people saw him as just that,"acting like a martial artist". Bruce was the real deal, possibly the 1st MMA martial artist. The "traditional" martial artists of his time didn't like him because he proved their styles had far too many many flaws. And they couldn't prove him wrong. Even now,EVERY,yeah I said EVERY "style" has changed from their "traditional ways",teaching outside their kind and/race,the same thing Bruce was hated for back then. It's was because of people like Bruce, that Martial Arts is mainstream today. So for people that think that Bruce Lee wasn't a true Martial Artist, need to thank him and people like him, that changed the minds of Asian fathers of Martial Arts to teach us. Osu!!

You say Bruce Lee, "was a legend". Well, that should tell you something. The legend and the real man are always different. Bruce Lee never competed in even one adult martial arts championship, so his actual abilities are only the subject of speculation. If he could beat so many guys, why did he not do it? He was foremost an actor. He began acting at age six. I have seen several movies he made when he was a child. Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee were both born in 1940, but Chuck was the real middleweight martial arts champion 1968-1974, while Bruce Lee refused to compete. It is a lie that Chuck said Bruce could beat him. Chuck knew he could easily beat Bruce, so he did not like for the script to have Bruce beat him in "Way Of The Dragon"="Return Of The Dragon". Bruce protested when scripts had him losing fights, but Chuck went along with the scripts. In "The Wrecking Crew", Dean Martin beat Chuck. What an indignity to have a 55 year old alcoholic "couch potato" beat a reigning world champion martial artist! Producers in China were not so impressed with Bruce Lee, because they had many stars who were much better. Bruce was more popular in the USA, where people are naive about Chinese martial arts. What "real fights" can you prove Bruce had? I hear tales about many men that put the tales about Bruce Lee to shame. His physique would not place him in any physique contest. He lacks balance, symmetry and proportion, and his definition is only fair. He has good "lats", but they overpower his scrawny arms with short muscles on them. My boyfriend is a bodybuilder, and he certainly does not, "see [Bruce] as an example of physical perfection", and his bodybuilder friends do not either. I posted Bruce Lee's exercise routine at a Chinese gym 5/27/65 on a Yahoo Group about martial arts. Several of us girls lift more than he did. If you say he is "strong", we are "Supergirl", "Wonderwoman", etc. come to life. A 97 pound Japanese girl is over 60% stronger in the legs than his exercises show Bruce was, so according to you she could kick Bruce and all MMA men off their feet. I think that the people in the martial arts group know many more facts about Bruce than you do. You made many errors in this rant that show us you have much to learn. Someone claimed Bruce was much, much more than he really was. Frauds invented lies about him to make money. Do you believe everything such people say? If you do, you believe the world will end 12/21/12, Nostradamus predicted the 1666 Great Fire of London, ETs built the pyramids, etc.! I have a nice bridge in Brooklyn to sell you as well.

Bruce did win multiple times in non sanctioned fights just to teach the (round eye). Chuck Norris is a grand master with his own developed style alongside Bruce, also anyone can say what they want Bruce is dead and can't answer back!!!

Find the ones who challenged him and lost in less than 3 min to him. I agree with the shihan fight anyone who has studied Jeet Kun Do you'll find out! He died undefeated in life and movies.

The reason barriers were broken down so Michael Jai White can be the beast he is along with many more.

And he was a humble and inspiring people to exceed their own personal potential daily. He's more popular today than ever that speaks for itself.

I think one of the reasons is because some Bruce Lee fans make outrageous claims, like Lee could demolish any MMA fighter.

The fact is that we'd never know how good Lee would do. He'd have to fight in 145 or so. He'd have to learn more grappling, even though he was always learning new techniques and styles.

Lee's real importance in the history of martial arts is exposing them to the United States and Europe. Before Lee, good luck finding anywhere to train. After Lee, there were dojo's popping up everywhere. Without Lee, there is no Karate Kid, Bloodsport, UFC, ect.

Most MMA fighters cant even throw a sidekick let alone do what Lee could. MMA is martial, but no art. its just fighting. and the new school of brats want all the attention and they will say anything like a crying baby, whaaaaaaaaa! look at me I wrestle. Norris said on Hong Kong TV that lee was his teacher. A lot of fighters from the 60's waited 30yrs to make sure lee was dead before they started talking ****. Jim Kelly is the only one to tell the truth on a Kato films video.I put together} Its a know fact that MMa fighters cant even spar with C level Kick boxers or boxers without quitting. it happens all the time in Vegas. And Norris got tough 30 yrs after Lees death, inti'l then he never got in a street fight, never fought full contact, tried to spar the jet for a round and quit, Machado jujitsu gets tapped so bad at grapplers quest that they stop going. and Norris claims there his teacher. Lee learned form Lebell who Gracie himself turned down to fight. A Norris black belt told me chucky would always go in the office and peek threw the blinds when lee came by to spar.

jealousy. when it comes to people that researched him and still say well he sucks cause this or that its because they do BJJ or there really big and say oh well look how small he was id stomp on him. truth is fights were illegal back then so he didn't like to be recorded fighting or else if he kills someone or breaks there knee caps he doesn't have to be blamed for it as it was seen as self defense, chuck was a champion at NON-CONTACT KARATE and this did not interest bruce, what did interest bruce is all out sparring wearing full protective gear(what the top mma fighters do nowadays) he evolved his training because he was dissatisfied that he was tired after beating one of asia's top fighters trying to stop him from teaching white people, he started doing circuit training interval training running everyday CRAZY diet and strength training(all of these being what top mma fighters do nowadays). bruces art was made for self defense in the street he could poke your eyes out in under 8-10 milliseconds or kick your knee caps in at probably 25 milliseconds. to this day no top mma fighter of any weight class could take him in the street i don't care if your brock lesnar you go down just like everyone else from a kick in the balls or a broken knee cap. sure bruce was so strong his body was admired by arnold S and dorian yates but he was STILL coordinated enough to take a dime from your hand before you could close it and even replace it with a penny. and your right he never claimed more then he was, sure he said he could beat up anyone in the world and thats true he COULD but he didn't say WOULD because anyone can lose and he knew that even back then

Because he is the subject of so much hype beyond his true abilities.

Yes he was a martial arts trail blazer in the United States, but he was unimpressive in China or Japan.

people saying he was not very good and such guys dont respecting him dont know nothing about bruce lee! these people didnt really deal with lee, they wouldnt talk about him like that if they did. bruce lee is still the greatest martial artist ever.

First off, Chuck Norris never claimed he would lose. He claimed he could beat Lee and thats why it was hard for him to lose in the movie they were in together. Second, the reason Lee would lose to modern MMA fighters is because we have seen that classical Martial arts doesn not work in MMA fights. Bruce Lee would be like eveyother classic martial artist who tried. He would be taken down, because he has no techniques to defend takedowns, then he would be either submitted or beaten because he has no experience in fighting off his back.

Probably most of the “disrespect” comes from people tired of all the “Bruce is God” crap.
