Yes I have and isn't he cute. Lets hope he is as smart as you too. That will be the real test to see if he is a clone of yours or just a look alike.
My style does not teach vertical punches only horizontal ones but I practice them and also teach them to intermediate and up students. Like Jim personally I prefer a rotation between horizontal and vertical punch when punching. I also use the first two knuckles as well as the last two knuckles depending on the target and how my angle needs to be to penetrate.

It seems after my rejection of him he is now looking for a new love. The poor boy is confused and shows signs of homosexual tendency. He is in serious need of some psychiatric help or a lobotomy.
Try to let the poor chap down easy. It may just end up driving him over the edge
Yes we do use the vertical fist
I was told a few interesting storys about the history of both the vertical and horizontal fist.
But its too much to type on thisphone. I can barely see what I'm typing now.
edit:>
can he do any tricks, i wonder if we can teach it to fetch,

We all have our loving clones and trolls! Easy enoough to tell though, you won't write the same.
Vertical fist. Certainly. Horizontal fist too.
Personally I prefer about a 45 angle on a punch. There are a few reasons for that, power and access to body points being the main reasons for it. And it is most natural too.

We really need to get rid of the "impersonators" like Keyboard Warrior, Kyle, Zig Zag, K and Clone of faith.

Imitation is the ultimate form of flattery. Someone thinks you are awesome enough to be like you, although stealing your identity is a creepy way of doing it.
Now for the answer: nope.

I have you as a contact so I'll know who's the bull$#!t artist and who's not. In fact, I think Jim is the same dude.
That's a preference I believe but I have not seen it been used in any Taekwondo school that I have visited.
EDIT: It's times like this I wish we had one big room where we could pull the guy in and just have at it with him...living makiwara/punching bag

Yes I have noticed your clone.
Kajukenbo uses both the horizontal and vertical fists. I am sure there are exceptions, but as a general rule, the horizontal fist is used when the opponent is with punching distance at arm`s length, and the vertical fist is used when you are very close to the opponent.

Your clone is not me, at least this time. you should be grateful its not me I would do a better job. Then again I would also be bashing Bruce the Fraud leeann with your clone as well. Don't mess with my bashing questions on mma , krav craphole and bruce the fraud and you will be just fine.
As for your side question. We use both, why because they have different uses.

Yes I use and teach the vertical fist. I have been taught the vertical fist in all three styles I have studied. I will typically use it on closer in applications.

Congratulations. I've never had the honor of my own clone before... not that i'm complaining. There are a lot of other people here using "J", too, but I don't think that counts.
Good thing is they can't fool anyone who's a contact with you, thanks to the little contact icon next to the user name, so even if he gets TC badge there's still no worries. We'll point him out for everyone to know.
Yes, all styles I've studied do use the vertical fist.

thats how you know youve possed the trolls off, they create fake accounts of everyone who likes tma.
and i thought most styles have a vertical punch somewhere like in boxing.the difference between a right cross and a straight right is the straight right uses a vertical fist.
classical pugilism (bare knuckle boxing) used the vertical fist almost exclusively for striking the head while the horizontal fist was used to the body, however they are exceptions.
karate uses it to some.extant with the tate zuki and isshin ryu guys like to hit vetical fist with most straight punches.
most wushu styles use both vertical & horizontal fists for striking like the classical pugilists.
in the end for me i prefer vertical fist striking at the head bacause i have more knuckle suppprt and hittong at the cheeks i can hit with all 4 knuckles because of simple geometry.
*edit*
@waytaller- some people use the top 2 vertical aswell it depends on the person and where they are aiming at and i wish i could have my old account back im sad its gone...

Well, I have seen your clone before, but I didn't realize it was a clone. I should be paying more attention to my surroundings, huh? LOL I should have noticed that one is on my contact list and the other isn't.
Yes the vertical fist is used and taught in our style.

lack of awareness might properly be so overwhelming.. the place's YA once you rather need them? My daughter purely started her YA account right this moment & she spoke back questions approximately lyrics. (one question replaced into approximately hillary duff) AND her account replaced into suspended right this moment interior an hour of beginning. And all six of her solutions have been stated. She lost 12 factors. and because her Q&A replaced into deepest - all of us understand who did it. (simply by fact in basic terms one man or woman replaced into extra to her contacts as a fan - apart from me - so all of us understand SHE did it) How ignorant & petty is that crap?
