Question:
Whats the best position for the hand to be in to collapse the windpipe of an attacker with a strike?

So forget curved strikes ie the ridge hand or the horizontal chop I want the strike to follow a near straight line to the target with either my lead or rear hand.

So a flat fist seems strong.

What about a spear hand with fingers slightly bent and tensed is that gonna be strong enough or will the fingers fold on a powerful impact?

What about the Y hand strike so a flat hand striking with thearea between the thumb and index finger seems strong but soft a llittle give in it.

Im guessing flat fist what do you advise?

ROFL, even in a Life or Death Self defense Situation, what possible reason would you have for wanting to crush a windpipe? There are Dozens, if not Hundreds of other ways to break a target, that WONT get you thrown in Jail.

That being said, If it's just for reference, one of the simplest methods, is a Palm Heel (throws the head back and exposes the neck) into a Tiger's mouth (or what you call a "Y hand strike", though never heard it called that before. Just drop the hand down as soon as the head goes back and strike), then grip, twist, and shake. It's does not take much power to crush a windpipe of the tech is done well enough.

Why would you want to crush someones windpipe? A strike to the throat is devastating enough to an attacker to stun them substantially without needing to potentially kill them, which is something that is likely to result from crushing a windpipe. In regards to the most effective way to perform a throat strike, a punch to the full throat with the fist or a thumb strike (fingers folded back flat against palm, thumb extended across top of first finger) or 'knife hand' as you described to the hollow of the throat are effective, with a thumb strike being easier to aim with much the same effect. Neither the thumb strike or knife hand will crush the windpipe, but are highly effective methods of stunning the attacker if used accurately. A strong enough punch to the throat may crush the windpipe if enough force is used but this is something you wish to avoid as even in a life-threatening situation it is unnecessary to use killing force when less force can be used and still easily diable the assailant- the throat is such a sensitive area that little force is required for a big effect.
