We had seminars this week and since I was in school I couldn't make the adult seminars (I have been doing adult classes since I was 11, I am 16) Well I went to the kids training to try and make up for it. But kind of an odd question would I be considered a kid- all the kids in that class are 11 and under and then there is me 16 and at least 4 ranks higher than everyone. But the sensei would always say things like kids stepped forward. I know I am not an adult but the only thing they would say is kid step forward I would kind of stay back but then their would be an odd number so I would work w/ the kids.

What am I?

Well, in the art you would be considered an adult. When the instructor says kids step forward, just do it. He's not going to say kids and adult or kids and (insert your name) step forward. Don't hang on one little word.

My daughter is 14 and trains with the adults. She routinely takes ukemi for demonstrations from 5th and 7th dgree black belts. She's one of the scarier students in the school, and many of the adults respect her abilities.

And this is to G-man, for sending me hate mail without having the cajones to turn on e-mail for his account, so I could respond: There are about a half a dozen people in the our dojo that I'm particularly careful and alert with, because they will break my wrist if I'm not. My daughter is one of them. Aikido has nothing to do with strength or size. And FYI, I don't report people.

Hello Hubba!

Everyone is considered a kid until they are 18 or over! so please don't feel any different from kids classes than you would adult classes, plus the majority of students there are kids, so of course he would say come here kids. I went to a couple kids classes to, i was 16. I didn't mind what they called me. Consider it a part of discipline.

Hope I helped!
