Most people hate Brock because he got into the UFC based mainly on name recognition from his WWE days. Shrewd business move by Dana, yes, but did he deserve to get his shot in the UFC at the time he did? I don't think so.

However, he HAS proven that he belongs there. Washed up as he might be, there aren't a LOT of guys that can beat Heath Herring, let alone make him look like a first time amateur the way Lesnar did.

Did that one win deserve to get him a Title shot? No, I don't think so. But again, he HAS proven that he's Championship material. He beat Randy Couture, and I don't care what anyone else says - Randy beats everyone in the UFC Heavyweight Division NOT named Brock Lesnar, even at 45 years of age.

Look, Brock isn't the most polished guy in the sport. His striking will never be as crisp as Anderson Silva's, but if he hits you it's like getting hit by a truck. His footwork will never be as good as Rich Franklin's, but he's so darn quick and big that he's hard to hurt. His overall wrestling ability will never be as good as Randy Couture's, but he has enough high-level wrestling that he can use his size, speed and strength to outwrestle anyone. And that's the thing that makes it all work for Brock - his size coupled with his tremendous athleticism and freakish strength.

Overall, it is a little unfair that they fast-tracked Brock to the top when there are so many other fighters in the Heavyweight Division that are statistically more deserving of a Title shot. I don't agree that one win gets you a shot, but he certainly has proven he belongs there, regardless of how many professional fights he's had.

Well I believe that there are many reasons why people don't like Brock. Brock really doesn't have true MMA skills to start with. Brock uses what works from him which is his size to bully his opponent on the floor and smothering them. The fights he puts on are boring and people don't want to see a boring fight. True MMA fans want to see skill in the fight. Brock is the bully in the Heavy Weight and he knows there is nobody his size and can move like him to challenge him. Another thing why I believe why people don't care for him is the amount of trash talking he does. Sorry buddy this is not the WWE and you can keep that drama over there. There is a respect for the sport and Brock does not have it. He is still stuck in his WWE land where the bad boy thing is accepted. Brock has no respect for anyone and a real champion should not act the way he does and gives the UFC a black eye when it is trying to get respects as a sport world wide. I believe Brock's time is coming and im sure he will have thousands of excuses when he loses his belt. Look at Shane Carwin the guy fights at 263lbs and is lean with 2 sizes bigger than Brock's gloves. This guy knock out Gonzaga with a jab can you imagine if he put some real force on it. This guy is also a wrestler. But this guy is not stupid like Brock he holds to degrees and a full-time job and trains partime. Brock is a one trick horse who's time is running out. Sorry to say WWE fans but its gonna happen. In a way its not fair to other fighters since they have not seen many fights on him but brock can study on them to fight them since other fighters have lots of fights that he can watch.

You know why. Why ask a stupid question. In your "Additional Details", you defended the very thing that true and knowledgable UFC Fans will never agree with. Brock got the title shot because of marketing not because he deserved it. How can you possibly say he deserved it? He was 1-1 in the UFC before his title shot. That is a disgrace to the UFC. He got that shot ahead of several more seasoned and deserving guys. He is a gimmick to draw the crowds. A bully who did not earn anything. To me, he is nothing more than a white Kimbo Slice.

I'm glad someone else said "Let's face it the UFC is desperate for the next caucasian and American drawing champion" because that's honestly what I thought when I saw him, but, I didn't want to look like a racist since I'm black. But honestly, that is the vibe I get around Lesnar. And Kimbo Slice is stereotyping done in the opposite direction. Even though I like Kimbo, were it not for the raggamuffin image, I doubt he'd be noticed.

Sad thing is, I think Lesnar's pretty good. What he does though does not look very "pretty". It gets the job done though. I hope that Kimbo can get some solid grappling training and learn to kick decently. Now imagine what would happen if we had Brock Lesnar vs. Kimbo Slice: America would probably erupt into a race war a week before the match.

Maybe the UFC needs to get more heavyweights so that they don't have to pander to latent racism.

I think MMA fighters are dedicated and train for years. To see Lesnar go to the top in just 3 years is a bit insulting for MMAers. However, what UFCers do not understand is that Lesnar spent years of conditioning training and wrestling.

With that being said, I didn't think Lesnar truly earned a title shot with only 4 profession fights. Velasquez and Carwin STILL haven't received a title shot and both fighters have over 10 fights. However, I DO think that Lesnar has the size and skill to maintain his belt...so really it depends on how you look at it.

But even Lesnar himself expressed a little reservation after winning the belt in his post fight interview. Regardless, I think Lesnar will keep the belt. There's only 2 people I see that can possibly take it from him...Carwin or Fedor. With Fedor not in the UFC, Carwin is the only real contender.

I'm gonna choose to get passed of the obvious answer everyone else gives (quick title shot). I also can't explain why everybody else doesn't like him, but I'll tell you why I don't like him.

Brock lesnar uses his size and strength. He's figured out that he's a big dude and that if he does everything quick along with using ONLY his size and strength, he could win.

Brock is a good wrestler. I'll admit. Yet, he is not anything special. He only uses his size and strength THAT'S IT. Beyond that he hasn't proven to do anything passed be a big guy.

I get annoyed when I see great fighters such as Carwin and Velazquez with the records that they've got not get their title shot and not even get the recognition they deserve. Just watch what Velazquez did to cheik and Carwin do to Gabriel Gonzaga. (Can't wait to see Carwin tear up some other guys).

Brock's record is like this:

1.) Finished his first fight in Pride against a guy who's lost more times than he won. YAY.

2.) Lost to Frank Mir a future hall of famer.

3.) Couldn't finish Heath Herring, a mediocre fighter.

4.) Finally beats Randy Couture. Couture seemed to be doing VERY well against Lesnar. Lesnar drops him and quickly Couture gets up (which shows how effective Lesnar is against a very good wrestler). Lesnar knocks one lucky punch against Couture and Lesnar wins. Give Couture a rematch and Couture will take his belt back because Couture is a smart fighter and a very good fighter.

Another reason I don't like Lesnar, is that he has such an incredible ego. He was like "That old man had the guts to face a young buck like me..." ya, and that old man lost by the mere chance that he got caught. It showed no talent to actually punch someone with big fists (like I said, he uses his size to his advantage: which is smart, but shows how weak his wrestling is). He also laughs at Heath Herring. He needs to get an *** beating, and he needs to fight better quality fighters. Let's see how he does with Nogeira, Carwin (who I think will play with Lesnar and use him like a chew toy), Velazquez and Mir. If Brock has the guts to face Fedor (In which he for a one time only fight goes to pride or fedor to UFC or some way there is some match up) Fedor will make Brock look like a trainwreck.

When Brock was asked about fedor Brock got very defensive and started getting very irrate (just like a young, amateur, inexperienced, self conscious fighter would act). When Fedor was asked about Brock he calmly said that he would like to fight him and was answered very amicably.

I'll summarize for those who didn't wanna read my rant.

1.) Egotistical

2.) inexperienced

3.) Unproven

No one is denying his ability to be a champion in the heavyweight division. And no one is or should be denying his power and wrestling ability. But UFC fans love versatility in their fighters and honestly Lesnar hasn't really done much but 'hammer fist' his opponents and ride their backs all night long. Sure he's taking his strength and size into advantage but he needs to be able to utilize those components with a little more pizazz.

Thus, he's still an unproven commodity in my books. I'm not saying that he isn't a deserving champion, but he still needs to be tested in so many different vantage points and there are still questions about his ability to do this and that such as his cardio and endurance to last 5 rounds and to do it against some one who isn't intimidated by his strength and power.

Because it just shows how many band-wagon fans MMA has.

Very few realize that Brock was an NCAA Division I wreslting champion with a record of 126-2. (Which equals to about 4 years of experience)

Plus with his name recgonition from the WWE and his collegiate wreslting experience made him a legitimate contender with only 3 fights/ 4 fights.

And so, most of these UFC band wagon fans don't have a clue, or knowledge about Brock Lesnar.

Couture was an olmpyic Greco Roman wrestler and won the belt after his 3rd of 4th match in the UFC, and no one complained about that.

Most UFC fans are band wagon fans, and have no knowledge of business or background.

They just read Yahoo! sports. (the wanna be sports guys)

Most UFC fans don't hate Brock Lesnar
2009-06-20 09:00:32 UTC
He is a performance enhancing drug abuser. Most are smart enough to realize this and he never paid his dues to the organization like others had to that came before him and others will that come after him.

Let's face it the UFC is desperate for the next caucasian and American drawing champion.

Hughes- washed up

Tito- Gone

Liddell-punch drunk and will never be the same

Couture can't compete with the younger fighters too.

Those four names make up all of teh top ten gates and PPV in UFC history.

Most see the UFC as only a promotion and nothing more. Lesnar only proves this by going to the front of the line and not working his way up through the levels of talent.

Sure he won the title, but Mir tapped him out in their first meeting.and we all know how well Mir is thought of.

its not tht he was in the wwe and most ufc fans now he was a d-1 wrestler but the main reason is theres no way in hell he desevred tht fight and even if he did he beat a 45 years old 230 pound fighter i hate to say it but randy's done. according to the logic he desevered it carwin and Cain should have had 3 or 4 title shots

he earned it did you see him fight mir without the ref standing he would have won. he dominated heath herring and didn't pull a josh koscheck and lay on top of him the whole round. he punched his face in. then he beat couture after losing to mir while kicking mirs *** and getting caught with a heel hook. mir deserves a title shot against him cause knocked out minotauro so i think brock lesnars not that bad
THAT GUY v.2

He earned it, but he didn't deserve it.

I am sure there are a lot of figthers in the middleweight division who can take out A. Silva, and have proved it time and time again, yet they still have to WORK to make it to the top. Brock didn't have to work. He took out some wash-out (herring) and got the title shot

1 example is Demian Maia. He is undefeated, and has finished all of his UFC fights by submission. He has gotten all Sub of the Nights honors in all his fights but 1. They are saying a sub expert can take out silva, i think demian maia has done more than enough to prove it. Yet he still hasn't earned a title shot.

its just because he got fast tracked to the title he didn't deserve it but the division was so weak at the time heath herring was the middle of the road guy in the division and brock destroyed him but brock's reign as champion will end when frank mir puts it to him

ufc fans hate brock lesnar cuz he should of had to go through Cain V. or Shane Carwin first where is their shot? carwin is a white american, if thats the reason. yeah lots of wrestling but beating a lousier looking than normal herring (by desicion?)and seldom fighting grandpa couture doesnt impress anyone, champ or not. Carwin and velasquez and kongo, they all got screwed

You clearly don't know a lot about the sport. If you haven't noticed, he's not the most talented fighter out there. he's just huge. if randy couture weighed 285, there's no way lesnar could beat him. lesnar may have wrestling background, but he would not have beaten the men that he's beaten if it weren't for his size. We dont like him because we're aware of his lack of skill. His fans are in denial or they dont know much about what actually goes on in that ring. silva, machida, cro cop, evans(i hate to admit).....lesnar doesnt have a fraction of the talent these guys have. if they all weighed 285 or if lesnar were more evenly matched with them, there's no way he could beat them. That's why we dont like him. he's not a good fighter. and what's with those hammer fists. who taught him that?

He's an over-grown, blonde version of Matt Hughes. And I don't mean talent-wise.

He didn't deserve a title shot.

Personally i hate him because he was 1-1 and got a title shot. In my opinion that is absolutely ridiculous.

because he was in the WWF OR WWE whatever the hell its called now. so mma fans dont take him serious
2009-06-20 08:10:57 UTC
-I believe because he comes from a diferent type of figthing sport and he didn't have to prove himself that much before he got a Title shot. Some guys have to wait years before that hapens!
