lol that same question is floating in my house and work. i am 50/50, royce is a submission king and matt is a ground and pound power house. if matt takes royce lightly he will get submited fast and if royce dont watch matt he will get pounded. it's going to be one dam good fight.

That depends on Matt Hughes. Matt has been known for not fully training for fights, (just look at his fight with B.J. Penn) but if Matt trains fully he could dominate Royce. Also Will Matt try to submit Royce. As much as i like Matt Hughes he is very egotistical and he would like nothing more than to say that he submitted a Gracie. With that being said, If Matt tries to only submit Royce, Matt himself will get cought in a submission, probably an Americana or a rear naked choke.

If Matt Stands up with Royce and sprawls properly when Royce tries to shoot, Matt will knock Royce out with either a right hand or a Body slam ie. Carlos Newton.

Regardless i can't picture anyone but Matt Hughes winning this fight. The real question should be, Will Matt lose focus on his true challenger. G.S.P. Georges St. Pierre?

Gracie has made a career of fighting larger opponents and has, as of late, been working with the younger, smaller and faster opponents. Therefore, while Matt Hughes tries to keep Royce on his feet and pepper him with lefts and rights, Royce will be watching and learning and will eventually locate a soft spot in the armor. Then, as Matt begins to whale away at a rather elusive target, he will find that one joint or another is being twisted to the breaking point. Therefore, Gracie by submission.

Hughes will win in the second round by KO. The first half of the first round Gracie will be trying to take Hughes down while avoiding getting rocked by a hook to the head. The match will eventually be taken to the mat where Gracie will be trying to submit Hughes but will realize that Hughes can grapple and is a strong SOB. The second round Hughes will rock Gracie early and take it to the mat where he will pound Gracie unmercifully to prove his point...Hughes is dominant and Gracie is old and past his prime.

Gracie may have helped change the UFC to a more technical competition but he needs to realize that when he first started he was only facing brawlers who didn't know how to grapple/wrestle or jujitsu. Hughes can grapple, has some jujitsu training and is strong.

It's a done deal now, but I was pretty sure it was going to be Matt Hughes. He's too well rounded and Royce is a one-trick pony. Royce is a great BJJ legend, but the modern MMA fighter is better. Matt is a dominant modern MMA champion...A long-standing champion.
