In qi gong you can gain abilities from practicing such as projecting your chi, being able to pool your chi to certain areas to avoid damage, stronger hits, and stuff such as that. I'm not sure if tai chi is the same or not. I have no qi gong instructors in my area. What are some good places online to find videos and informations on qi gong and tai chi excercises?. Anyone that has done qi gong could you please post your experience with it and how long you did it and if you experienced any of these abilities or anything from the excercises and the amount of time it took to start seeing those abilities and things.

Yes.

The problem is that most people do not have the time or patience to complete the training.

To start, the "chi" part from Tai Chi Chuan and the Chi part from Chigung - also spelled "qi" are two different characters that mean different things. From the art, it means Ultimate. From Chigung it means Breath or Air/Pressure.

Chigung practice maximizes the intake of oxygen and the movements generate a bio-electromagnetic field. Bio-electromagnetic fields have been scientifically proven to exist in man. If this was not the case, science could not say or prove that humans are made up of atoms... which have ELECTRONS. As we do Qigong, we bring more oxygen to the atomic level. This causes the bio-electromagnetic field to become enhanced or accelerate.

The movements of chigung/qigong teach us how to expel this energy with technique. It is like a car that has nitrous tanks. The force of the nitrous boosts the car speed. The impact from such a boost is greater.

The skill level you need to acquire these skills CANNOT be taught through video. Do not attempt to try this at home. Taichichuan develops Chi but you need a teacher who has been trained in and mastered this form of practice. Not many do.

I trained in Yi Chuan, which does not take long for you to develop the electromagnetic field. But you need to learn to move it, which comes only through long term extensive training.

During my second class, my teacher told me to take his wrists firmly. He just lightly shook his body and I flew back, feet in the air, onto a sofa, which was about 8 to 10 feet behind me. After the 1 hour class, I was home - maybe an 1 1/2 hours later, and I still felt a vibration in my bones throughout my body.

You need a great teacher, lots of patience and time.

No. You do not gain super human powers through chi. Any place that suggest such a thing is a con.

It is method of meditation, conditioning and stretching of large and small muscles and the ligaments, mental programming of correct posture alignment, and many other things. However cheap magic tricks of shooting spiritual powers, getting skin as strong as steel, running faster than light, and learning to fly is not part of real chi gong.

Taichi has an element of chi gong built into the style and some teachers teach chi gong with the style, but it is more combative based chi gong and if you want the full benefit of chi gong then you should take a separate chi gong class along with a taichi class.

You are misunderstanding what Qi-Gong and Tai-Chi means.

The Daoist who invented Tai-Chi-Chuan (shortened to Tai-Chi) also invented qi-gong. The syllable "chi" and "qi" represents the same Chinese word but Romanized differently.

Qi-gong is incorporated into all the various styles of Tai-Chi. Qi-Gong is a form of exercise or training regiment within Tai-Chi. Qi-gong literally means "qi exercises". Doing qi-gong is like doing push-ups in that both indirectly helps you with self-defense in making you more fit. But fitness is not technique or skill which is where Tai-Chi combative training comes in. If you study one of the styles of Tai-Chi, you will be taught some qi-gong exercises. Most likely the warmups done before actual training will be qi-gong. Just as you can write volumes of books on all the forms of exercises a fighter can do to be more fit without ever touching on the actual self-defense methods, the same can be said for qi-gong.

Lastly, if you are looking to receive magical or supernatural abilities by training in qi-gong, you will be disappointed. You are not going to avoid injuries by projecting chi. You are not going to be superman by doing qi-gong. And you should be very weary of people who tell you otherwise because they are frauds or not right in the head.

They help you breathe correctly and allow your brain to effectively move your body. Don't focus on the shaolin circus acts. They are worth getting into, but look for a radioactive spider if you want superpowers.
