There are lots of people who think that "hard" means just going gonzo crazy with your training....whacky numbers of pushups...board breaking by the dozen with your head....poking yourself with pointed sticks ....etc.

I think what you are getting at though, is what styles are considered hard in the traditional sense - the types of techniques and stances employed.

Kyokushin is commonly considered one of the more pure "hard" styles.

I've been pretty impressed with some of the Kempo people I've trained with. They tend to be pretty well versed in "hard" aspects.

Shotokan would be another.

Goju another because the "Go" (hard) part is typically very hard, but the "Ju" (soft) side is also there, so it may not be what you are looking for.

All styles have some elements of "soft" in them (you have to, because you must be soft to move quickly) and you have to be careful that you don't overdo the hard aspects. Over time, you will probably realize that a balance of hard and soft is best. Be hard when it's needed, and soft when it's best.

I have met some kung-fu guys who are soft like willows but hard as nails too. You can generate a TON of power by developing your soft side too because often you are working on your breathing, balance and sequencing of your muscle moves more than you would by just blasting out 1000 punches into a heavy bag.

Finally, it all depends very much on the dojo and the sensei and his or her style. Some will emphasize the harder aspects more than others.

this was actually answered in your last question, there is no single influence for karate, and as pugpaws pointed out there are over 50 styles, there were influenced by various counties and style, there are over 100 kata, some say over 200.. each kata represents a different style and a different style of influence. each style is defined by the kata they use more use only a few kata about 12 to 15 a few use as many as 26 to 58 or so. depending on the kata is depending upon the influence, as well as several other factors. i have been researching kata history for several decades now and i still have a long way to go. its not just kung fu that was influenced many other countries, vietnam, philippines, thailand, india, and so forth okinawa was a trading hub in asia, it wasnt only a stop for the chinese and japanese. although they were the primary occupants and split the country for centuries between the 2 of them. your not going to narrow this down to a hand full of kung fu styles, or styles just form china, you need to expand your search a lot more.

If you play lots of basketball and you wish to dunk like Vince Carter however the genetic doesn't helped you this manual, Vert Shock will help you and https://tr.im/qcFXu is the place where you will see that guide.

Adam Folker developed Vert Shock. Adam Folker is really a former school basketball player today turned professional basketball player, a 30-year-old player who has always been struggling with his jump. He tried numerous ways to increase his vertical but only recently, he'd a breakthrough. His accomplishment is caused by the brand new Vert Shock program that's revolutionized vertical leap instruction and has been making plenty of buzz in the world recently.

The Vert Shock process is wonderfully available to persons at every degree of conditioning expertise. It does not require any special gear or facilities, which makes it easy to rehearse anywhere.

The Vert Shock is the best in the marketplace

A "hard" style means strikes and blows. Soft styles would be Judo or Jiu Jitsu or something utililizing a lot of grappling and wrestling moves.

It's hard to say which style is "hardest". A hard punch is a hard punch regardless of the style studied. It more often depends on the person doing it.

I would say White Tiger Kenpo Karate is the hardest most brutal.

As of 2006, there are 30 base self defense techniques for 1st degree black belt. Most of which is learned by green belt. There are various drills, sets, and 3 forms. As a student progresses into brown belt, they will need to create variations for each technique. The philosophy behind this is that it should help to create spontaneous response.

Here is a list of what a black belt test would require.

30 base techniques plus 4 variations for each.

Forms 1, 2, and 3 plus thesis form.

Spontaneous unarmed defense against club, knife and gun. The attackes will resist your techniques so you must be able to nutralize them with control and focus. Many times, this has gone to the ground, so some knowledge of ground work would be very helpful.

Weapons and spontaneous armed self defense. Yawara, club, knife, and kenpo sticks (escrima sticks).

Hip throw, cross arm throw, sweeps and takedowns.

Spontaneous multi man defense. Defender and attackers are in sparring gear.

4 Man Wall - Back is against the wall while for attackers are lined up in front of defender. Object is to fight your way out.

2 Man Sparring - Sparring two at the same time.

Circle of Death - Defender is in a circle of hostiles. Each attacker is called in one and sometime two at a time.

Alley - Walking between two rows of hostiles. You may only react to those that are attacking. As not all are attacking and those that are will only attack when you are in range.

Single Line - Attackers are coming in a one's and two's. Object is to not give ground.

Breaking of 3 boards.

Be prepared for surprises.

Verbal - Must show general understanding of the history of Kenpo and the martial arts. Also must show general understand of self defense laws and ramifications of the same.
