Why do fans hate Brock Lesnar?

I've been watching MMA since I was seven, back in 1995. I think he is good for the sport... the same way Tyson and Ali were for boxing. Fans never really accepted Brock when he came into the UFC because he was mainly known for his "fake wrasslin" career. Fans didn't think he belonged in the sport with real fighting. Some say he is a boring fighter that just lays on people, has no skill, & wins because of his size. But in fact there is a lot technique in what he does & how he controls his opponents. Brock is no different than any other fighter in what he does. He does what he is comfortable with and what he is good at. People complain about his size and how it's unfair. Lesnar cuts around 20lbs to make weight. That's is no different than any other fighter that cuts weight to make their class. Why is Lesnar singled out?

Then there is him getting his title shot early, seems unfair. I don't remember hearing anyone talking about Couture's UFC title shot only after his 3rd fight EVER. Then there are his antics after the fight with Mir and Heath. I guess fans don't seem to realize the amount negative talk Mir and Heath said towards Lesnar when he did nothing to earn it.

Mir basically said that Lesnar was strong but clueless when it came to fighting. Heath and his camp complained that it was a joke he was even put in the ring with a fake pro wrestler and made comments about how the punches were going to be real. Lesnar answered back after the fight with his emotions, acting in a way the pretty much said, "F' you" to Mir and Heath." Are you going to really be judgmental of him and hate him for that? What about Henderson's punch to an already unconscious Bisping or Randy slapping Tito's butt. There is such a double standard when it comes to Lesnar.

Lesnar pretty much did a 180 with the Couture fight and was still booed. Out of all Lesnar's fights, Couture was the only one who didn't throw some kind of variation of , "It's not the WWE" at Lesnar. The only opponent who didn't disrespect Lesnar before the fight was Couture. The only opponent Lesnar didn't trash talk afterward was Couture. Coincidence? Lesnar's actions were completely different towards Couture because he was respected.

Lesnar has been booed and disliked since he walked through the doors of the UFC. In his debut match with Mir, he was heavily booed. I don't remember a debut fighter ever being booed to that extent. At that point, Lesnar had done nothing to be judged on in his UFC career. The finger gesture at UFC 100 pretty much stated to the crowd, "I don't give a damn what you think of me anymore."

Lesnar's comments towards Bud Light were not the smartest thing since it is UFC's biggest sponsor, but Lesnar was still hot headed and emotional after the fight. Have you never taken your anger out on someone that didn't deserve it or said something you didn't mean to say? $h!t happens.

He got an undeserving title shot.

His antics after his fights (against Herring and Frank Mir) were shameful.

He displays no humility, and no charisma.

That's why.

I hate Brock Lesnar for the same reason I will probably hate Randy Couture in a few months (http://www.cagepotato.com/randy-wants-shot-winner-shogun-machida) He stepped WAY out of line. Brock was 2-1 (1-1 UFC) when he was giftwrapped a title shot, worse he a rookie used brute strength to defeat a very technical experienced veteran. Back at UFC 1 Royce Gracie showed the world that technique and experience will overcome size and strength. Brock broke the mold, he ***'d up the martial art way. Then he did it again against Frank Mir. I am of the firm belief that Brock is very beatable, I think Shane Carwin will do it and I think Dos Santos and Mir with the right gameplan (and some physciatric help) can also do it. Yes Brock is growing on me for his level of experience he is extremely impressive however he is the UFC Champion and as such pegged to be the #1 HW in the world which I and most do not believe to be the case. Brock has beat Couture and Mir both with a significant weight advantage. But look at the resume's of some other UFC HWs, Cain Velaseuz- Big Nog, Kongo. Frank Mir- Big Nog, Lesnar, Kongo. Dos Santos- Cro Cop, Struve, Gonzaga, Werdum!

I'm a big fan of Shane Carwin but to be completely honest he's not ready for a title shot. But He is also a better version of Brock. Personally Im salivating over this fight just to show that Lesnar will crumble when going against another big man, hell if he wrestles like he did against Couture, Carwin will man handle him.

To sumerize Brock stepped out of turn, he devalued the UFC title and put the title picture in a mess, Carwin/Lesnar is a great fight but both need more fights before they even should have been considered in the title hunt.

Oh and Brock's and @$$hole, that BS post Mir pummeling was nothing more than a juvenile temper tantrum.

Fans Hate Lesnar because they're morons and they get into that WWE mentality where you have a good guy and a bad guy. All of his fights have been exiting and what a fighter does in the ring after a win when his adrenaline is red-lining and he's just dominated a disrespectful self absorbed douche like Frank Mir cant be held against him. Did you hear what Mir said about him? He said he wanted Lesnar to be the first octagon casualty in the sport! That, to me is bad sportsmanship not saying you want to go home and get on top of your wife.

JOE- Royce Gracie proved at UFC 1 that a small guy who is proficient at one martial art can beat a big guy who knows F**k all. He also proved at UFC 60 that a guy who is proficient in one martial art doesnt stand a chance against a well rounded fighter. MMA is about using your physical tools against your opponent and capitilizing on his weakness. How is Brock Lesnar ruining martial arts? Should he not use his size and strength to his advantage? You say he was given a giftwrapped title shot but he won the title so don't you think he may have deserved it? I dont know why everyone is hating on this guy it seems like everyones so wrapped up in the negative hype that they forget this guys a pretty good fighter.

ERIC K.- Its called ground and pound dude. do you even watch these fights? This guys had some gnarly intestinal virus and mono you think he's dodging?

Most people hate Brock because he got into the UFC based mainly on name recognition from his WWE days. Shrewd business move by Dana, yes, but did he deserve to get his shot in the UFC at the time he did? I don't think so. However, he HAS proven that he belongs there. Washed up as he might be, there aren't a LOT of guys that can beat Heath Herring, let alone make him look like a first time amateur the way Lesnar did. Did that one win deserve to get him a Title shot? No, I don't think so. But again, he HAS proven that he's Championship material. He beat Randy Couture, and I don't care what anyone else says - Randy beats everyone in the UFC Heavyweight Division NOT named Brock Lesnar, even at 45 years of age. Look, Brock isn't the most polished guy in the sport. His striking will never be as crisp as Anderson Silva's, but if he hits you it's like getting hit by a truck. His footwork will never be as good as Rich Franklin's, but he's so darn quick and big that he's hard to hurt. His overall wrestling ability will never be as good as Randy Couture's, but he has enough high-level wrestling that he can use his size, speed and strength to outwrestle anyone. And that's the thing that makes it all work for Brock - his size coupled with his tremendous athleticism and freakish strength. Overall, it is a little unfair that they fast-tracked Brock to the top when there are so many other fighters in the Heavyweight Division that are statistically more deserving of a Title shot. I don't agree that one win gets you a shot, but he certainly has proven he belongs there, regardless of how many professional fights he's had.

BECAUSE HE WAS A FAKE WRESTLER!!!!!

Okay, not the only reason. In my opinion Brock Lesnar has less skill then 90% of the Hevey Weights in the UFC today. He was given a tile shot his 3rd fight (I think cant remember) in the UFC which I think was BULL$&IT. When I watch him, all he does it take the fighter down and lay on them in hopes to drop his elbows down. Did it with Mir, Couture, and everyone else. I also think he has a very poor attitude. Plus with all the crap he has been pulling the last year to not get in the ring and defend. I think Brock better watch out for Shane Carwin's giant fists of steel!!!!

Wow you are really upset over a none issue. Every sport has players that fans love to hate, MMA is no different. You are 22 and you are on here complaining about why Brock Lesnar is treated poorly, life is not fair get over it. He is a former wrestler and his style shows it. The great thing about MMA is that you can use any variation of martial arts to compete, this includes wrestling and street fighting.

Everything will be alright you and others can still like Lesnar, though many don't. Remember every sport has athletes the fans love to hate.

Many people hate him because of his pro-wresting background and his attitude. MMA purists will tell you that he has no skill, but he has one of the best amateur wrestling backgrounds in MMA today, All American and NCAA Champion. He uses his size, strength, and wrestling to control opponents and pound them out from top position, very similar to GSP except Lesnar has the ability to finish his fights (sorry fans, GSP hasn't been finishing opponents lately).

It's his attitude and the fact that he got a titleshot so early that has the most people upset. I love his poor attitude, he knows how to sell a fight and work a crowd. He is the number one draw in the UFC right now, he sells pay-per-views and when it comes down to it, the UFC is a business, so they gave him a shot with a 3-1 record and he took full advantage of it. People forget that Couture got a title shot after a loss and a retirement.

People will continue to hate Lesnar and he will keep his attitude and continue to be the biggest pay-per-view draw the UFC has.

Most fans hate Brock Lesnar mainly because he is not a skilled fighter.

Thus far he has won on his athletic ability and general ridiculous amount of mass. He has won on Brute Force, and not on skill.

Before any talk of his NCAA wrestling background and pedigree show me a single legit wrestling technique he has used thus far.

So far it is pretty much swarm with wild punches, bull rush, body tackle guy, get on top of him and pound on him.

The only fight he showed ANY wrestling ability was against Heath Herring where he basically maintained top control.

Randy Couture was outboxing him and outwrestling him, before he got caught with a wild haymaker punch of Brock's.

The simple fact is the guy isn't skilled, he is big, strong, agile and fast. But there is no aspect of the MMA game where he has shown definitive skill. He's a 315lbs freak of nature who is able to overwhelm his opponents so far because of size and strength. That won't last forever.

Like I said, mostly it is because he doesn't have any real skill as of yet. I am sure he is training hard and he is a good guy and all. But I don't see any reason to be a fan of the guy, I am fan of the sport, and the skill of the sport. A guy with little to no skill who is winning just on brute force, just doesn't endear me to him.

I don't like his lack of respect. Even two fighters that have very different levels of skill should still respect each other. Then there is simply his immaturity. I will not comment on his skill level.... Judomofo gave an excellent description of that in his answer. nothing else needs to be said.

I could care less about Lesnar's career in 'pro' wrestling. I hate him because he is a world-class douche-bag. When he does something in the ring that's truly impressive, my opnion may change, but I doubt it.
