It ridiculous, both fighters knew they were going to be tested, are fighters nowadays getting dumber, or tests getting better?

If they are both banned for a year, that means Sherk will be stripped of the belt for sure, i wonder what title match they'll have, maybe Penn vs Florian?

For those of you who will associate MMA with steroids, even GOLFERS are being reported to be using steroids, this is unreal.

WHAT!? This is some bullSHlT! Strip Sherk's title for sure. A one year ban is soft. This sport is expanding at such a great pace. Don't go and taint it with the same BS that is ruining so many other sports. This is really disappointing. This would be a great opportunity for the UFC to set an example. Ban those cheating bastards for life. There was so much hype for Sherk. They had a special showing him training and crap too. Come on Dana, show me why you're my favorite authority figure in sports. Unleash the FURY!

The use of banned substances in sports will never end as long as there is money. Commissions will only have to make more strict rules to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future.

I'm very disappointed, Sherk is one of my favorite fighters and it just kills me to know that he tested positive for steroids.

I wouldn't be surprised if NSAC decided to test guys during post-fight.

This is friggin rediculous. Do they think they're pro wrestlers or something? You're not gonna get away with it. So much for Sherk being champ for a long time huh? The 155 belt won't be getting any real respect for awhile.

Hermes gave his explaination but that doesn't make any sense either... He needed to fight to pay his bills? Is that money gonna last him for the rest of the year? This crap needs to be shot down NOW before it takes the rest of the sport down with it.

The thing with steroid use in MMA is you don't know if the fighter was juicing to enhance their performance or to nurse an injury. I would say most fighters juice because they have been injured and don't want to pull out of the fight so its actually for the benefit of the fans.

Like it or not steroids are as much a part of MMA as jiu-jitsu. Most of your favorite fighters juice but are smart enough to cycle it out of their system. I don't dislike a fighter just because the tested posative for a banned substance, I actually gained respect for Hermes France for the letter he wrote to MMAweekly explaining his steroid use and apologizing to his fans.

The only real contenders for the belt are Spencer Fisher, and Tyson Griffin, but I hope the UFC brings in some top foriegn talent to challenge BJ for the belt. Shinya Aoki, Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto, Hayato "Mach" Sakurai, Gilbert Melendez, and Joachim Hansen are all worthy of a UFC lightweight title shot. (I left out Gomi because he just signed a big contract with K-1, and Bj Penn has already defeated him)

I did't hear that there was any suspension handed down. Being a fan of the ufc , shame on Sherk & Franca , hope they realize there is no room in sport for steroids . They put on one hell of a good fight. I guess that puts Kenny Florian back at the top of the lightweight division. Not to worry the list is long of up a coming fighters, Thanks for the info.......

I do not see why fighter keep using banned substance when they know they are going to get test before and after a fight. It is just commonsense, especially when many fighters that have got caught have lost their fights.

Yeah... MMA is such a classy sport.

Now it's whole image is being marred by steroids... I'll never live it down.
