Why?

You can find great training in any country and with any ethnicity. Just because the instructor is Asian or the class is in Asia that doesn't mean the training will be better than any other training.

Sure it would be great to train and to learn more about the culture. There can be other benefits if you have the right school. Usually as it was mentioned you must have some type of connection to get you into those places. I have been train in Japan this coming summer or the next summer. I have to check the date. I hope I can make it.

First you need to decide what you want to learn. Then join a school in your home town that has connections to Asia. A lot of traditional schools do. My friend goes to Japan twice a year to train, I am aligned with a school that has connections to China and I train there. My friend stays in a hotel in Japan while he trains there. It's very expensive. I stay in a boarding school in China and it's really reasonable financially. I imagine Muay Thai too if it's a traditional school would have connections to a sister school abroad.

It is a really good idea to get some basic training before going. Asia will give a whole new meaning to training so you want some martial arts conditioning before you go. Martial arts conditioning is different than just being in good shape and athletic. It will also guarantee that you get the maximum out of your visit and actually have something to show afterwards. With all the opportunities to learn there you don't want to be spending your time on basics and just come back home with some basics. That's a waste of time and money. Anybody can teach you the basics you don't have to go to Asia for that. Have your basics and then go and learn the more advanced stuff there. Also knowing a little helps when you are not so fluent with the language.

Where my friend trains they have all modern conveniences. Where I train you can have your electronics what they don't have is things like washing machines so you wash everything by hand outside in the yard which is fine in the summer, a chore in the winter. Some schools have air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter but often the electric will go out for a few days which is OK in the summer, not so good in the winter. And you better add deep kneebends to your daily training routine. Lots of toilets there are holes in the ground and you squat.

If you have no training already it's going to be hard or impossible to find a marital arts master in Asia that not only will teach you but will also provide room and board for you. Do you have an idea how many people want to do what you do?

I'd suggest you train in your home town. Sure it's not as exotic, but it'll give you a good foundation and if/when you're able to, take a trip to the country where your style is from. Train there as a visitor, then come back and train more. Make contacts, and see how it goes. Only after you do this, MIGHT you have a chance to do what you desire.

1) A minor (which I know you are) cannot live in another country without parental consent much less get on an airline alone without your parents filling forms, escorting you to the airline on the day of departure and designating a guardian at the destination country who has to be at the airport to escort you out of the airport.

2) In other countries they speak other languages. How is your Japanese, Chinese, or Thai? Did you seriously think people in other countries all speak English?

3) Do you have the money to pay for lessons and room? Did you think it is all going to be free?

4) There is this thing call immigration laws which, unlike the US, other countries enforce. This means you do not get to go to another country and stay just because you feel like it. You have to have permission in the form of a visa to enter and stay for a time limit. A visa does not allow you to stay for as long as you feel like it. All visa's have a limit which is usually under 2 years - in most countries it is only 1 year.

Your question tells me you're too young to be on your own.

"muay tai or ninjutsu"

You got the "jutsu" part right, however, it is THAI, not tai. It is a reference to the country - Thailand, so you need to really get educated in their culture, before you go out there and inadvertently offend someone.

You just cannot go to a teacher in Asia and start training. That is not how it works. You have to have a good foundation before you can go and even so, you have to have a letter of introduction by someone the teacher knows or someone who is well established, that can vouch for you.

Develop a good foundation first.

Just because a teacher is Asian doesn't mean he wont scam you look near you for teachers with great lineage that can be traced and schools that spar hard and often. as far as ninjitsu I train at a ninjitsu school and plan on going to Thailand next year to study muay thai check fight passport for a gym you like, best of luck.

How do plan on doing this? Go to the country and simply ask to train in the system with no experience in i? If so do you think the master is just going to accept anyone? How do you expect to understand them? Not all speak English.

There are martial arts schools in China like that.....People are paying a price and they live and train there. You need to do your research on this though.
